Thanda's Star for Life scheme celebrates fifth anniversary

The founders of the Thanda lodge and spa in the KwaZulu-Natal region of South Africa have celebrated the fifth anniversary of their Star for Life programme.

It is now offered at 62 schools in the region and has reached out to more than 50,000 people in the province. An independent impact assessment was undertaken to evaluate the effects of the programme on learners and a reduction in the number of teenage pregnancies was noted, as well as better academic performances.
