The five-star Huma Island Resort and Spa, located on the last frontier of the Philippines, opened in April with 15 beach villas, 64 water villas – built on stilts over the beach water – and two presidential suites.
The 81 tropical villas are situated on the Diciligan island in Busuanga, Palawan – developed by the owning company, Kuwait-based IHTC. Its subsidiary company in the Philippines, HUMA Corporation renamed the island Huma Island Resort & Spa three years ago.
Built over water, with glass floors, the US$525,000 (€383,268, £311,999) seven treatment room Huma Island Spa offers guests beauty services such as waxing, manicures and pedicures in addition to Ayurvedic therapies plus Swedish, bamboo and four-hand massages.
The spa also features an Arabic hammam which comprises a steam bath and two hammam tables for Moroccan-style mud exfoliate treatments. Each treatment room is 40sq m (431sq ft) and the other facilities in the spa complex’s centre measure 67sq m (721sq ft).
Every villa includes indoor and outdoor showers and a private spa pool – the pools in the presidential suites are 13sq m (140sq ft).
Untouched sunken Japanese warships and planes – in addition to vibrant marine life – make these waters popular with divers. The resort also has seven dining outlets, a fitness centre, library and kids room.
