The Indian Hotels Company Limited has opened its second Taj hotel in Udaipur, the Taj Aravali Resort & Spa. Located in the foothills of the ancient Aravali Mountain Range, the resort is spread across 27 acres of landscaped gardens and features a 15,000sq ft (1,394sq m) Jiva Spa with 11 treatment rooms. The resort’s 92 bedrooms all offer panoramic views of the Aravalis, and include 16 traditional cottages, 15 Swiss tents and one signature Glass Box Suite. It features a contemporary design ethos with a mix of traditional Rajasthani influences and furnishings inspired by Mewar region’s world-class equestrian heritage. The hotel also has extensive recreation facilities such as squash, badminton, basketball and tennis courts, a gymnasium and a state-of-the-art indoor golf simulator, as well as several restaurants, including a specialty vegetarian restaurant. “Taj has been instrumental in developing India’s tourism potential in Rajasthan and putting the state on the global map with the iconic Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur since 1970,” said Puneet Chhatwal, managing director and CEO of The Indian Hotels Company Limited. “With the opening of Taj Aravali Resort & Spa, we are enhancing our offering for the global traveller and reinforcing our commitment to Udaipur – the Venice of the East.”
