The final phase of the Nirvana Spa's expansion plan has been unveiled this month. Two salt water flotation pools, the first of their kind in the UK, and the Nirvana Room relaxation area add the finishing touches to the spa's new building. Work on the new facilities began in April 2000, and has also created a new entrance and changing rooms, three plunge pools, a spa pool and an additional swimming pool, all of which opened last month. In line with the Nirvana Spa's philosophy, 'to create a place to escape the English climate and experience a healthier lifestyle', members can now relax in a flotation pool under a dome ceiling inset with fibre-optic lighting or take in cathedral-style architecture and an Anna De Polnay mural while swimming in the Roman Room's pool. 'The extension provides us with the means of catering for the very high demand for membership and Day Spa visits,' said managing director Tim Harding. Refurbishment is now due to begin on other areas of the original spa, which opened in 1988. Plans include the Garden Cafe, a new dining area, a larger changing area and redevelopment of the existing relaxation pool.
