The world's biggest poker tournament, The Ladbrokescasino.com PokerMillion, has been launched by Ladbrokes and Matchroom Sport offering a prize of at least £1m to the winner. Running from 28-31 March 2002 at the Hilton London Metropole hotel, places are limited to 300, with each player paying a £7,000 entrance stake. The prize fund is expected to be around £2.1m. With live coverage for a global audience on Sky Sports, Barry Hearn, chair of Matchroom believes poker has the potential to be the major growth 'sport' of the decade: 'Forget about Survivor and Big Brother - this is reality TV. Poker has the potential to bring in huge television audiences.' The first tournament held in the Isle of Man last year attracted poker pros from all over the world.
