The Punch Pub Company (PPC) has acquired 75 pubs from the Commer Group for £19m. The pubs, in Yorkshire, Tyneside and Teesside, will form part of PPC's 1000-strong tenanted arm. Property and development director, Deborah Kemp, emphasised PPC's ongoing aggressive acquisition programme. The deal brings PPC's total spend on acquisitions in our first quarter to £31m, £2m a week, she said. The Commer Group, winner of Publican magazine's Pub Company of the Year 2001 Award, sold all of its tenanted outlets to PPC in order to develop new ventures in the leisure industry and build their existing involvement in leisure industry technology and the internet.
