Disney Regional Entertainment has announced that the Chicago prototype of Disneyquest, an indoor interactive entertainment venue, is to close due to financial reasons. The five-storey facility, which opened in June 1999, houses many one-of-a-kind interactive rides and attractions in the heart of the city. Randall Baumberger, senior vice president of Disney Regional Entertainment, says that the closure was not an indication of failure: Although the concept has been a creative success and exceptionally well received by our guests, we have concluded that the expected returns will not meet the company's financial requirements. The attraction will close on September 4th.
