The laid-back Asian formula that has proved so popular for the London club, Chinawhite, is to be extended overseas to locations in Ibiza and Istanbul. The same design team that created the original Chinawhite - interiors by club co-owner, Rory Keegan, designer Cara Sakmoto and graphics by ashleycarter - have been behind the opening of the two new premises: The Mao Rooms, based on the London venue's VIP Rooms, located below the walls of the old town in the port area of Ibiza, and Chinawhite in Istanbul. The Istanbul site has a total capacity of 4000 and a South African flavoured restaurant headed up by chef Kevin Fine. VIP arrivals are transported from their hotels to the 550-plus capacity club in power boats. Hedonism also dictates at the Mao Rooms in clubbing capital Ibiza, with interiors featuring trademark daybeds and large ornately covered cushions. Both venues open this month.
