Only six per cent of British adults say that the UK would be their ideal holiday destination according to a report by Taylor Nelson Sofres. The research, carried out following the foot and mouth outbreak, revealed that despite it not being everyone's ideal destination, 23 per cent of Britons will take a holiday in the UK this year. Some 25 per cent plan a holiday in Europe and 11 per cent will go on a long-haul holiday. More than 1,000 adults were interviewed last month, revealing that 88 per cent of those questioned will not be holidaying in their ideal destination. Anita Emery from Taylor Nelson Sofres said that despite it not being their ideal destination, the figures are encouraging for British tourism: It is reassuring that among those who have already planned their holiday, four out of 10 will be spending time in the UK.
