Bonfante Gardens Theme Park, the newly opened horticulturally-inspired theme park in California, has shut temporarily due to economic uncertainty. The 75-acre park has closed for its off-season, but plans to re-open in spring 2002. I've made the decision to close the park early based on projections for a marginally-profitable winter season, said founder Michael Bonfante. I've elected to conserve capital, concentrate on future funding requirements and complete additional attractions rather than deplete resources by keeping the park open during times of economic uncertainty. The park opened in June this year after 23 years of planning and development.
