The Blau Porto Petro Resort and Spa has had its soft-opening on the Spanish island of Mallorca.
The 55m euro (£37.7m, US$66.2m) five-star resort boasts more than 300 rooms, suites and villas – each with a sea view – in 12 Mediterranean style units.
Surrounded by a pine forest which extends to a sandy beach, the resort’s facilities include a luxury spa, a fully-equipped gym, five restaurants, six floodlit tennis courts and a sports centre.
The soft opening will see the resort’s spa operate with a limited treatment menu until the end of October and the entire resort is scheduled to be fully operational by 27 January 2006.
The 1,200sq m (13,000sq ft) spa boasts 11 treatment rooms, a separate beauty salon and a water therapy circuit.
Treatments at the spa include hydrotherapy, thalassotherapy, body wraps, aromatherapy and a range of massages, incuding anti-cellulite, Swedish, sports and lymphatic drainage.
The resort is part of the Great Hotels of the World collection. Details: www.ghotw.com/blau-porto-petro
