A new study commissioned by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) has shown that men and women aged 18 to 24 years-old have the highest approval rating for cosmetic surgery.
The US-based study was conducted by independent research firm Synovate and involved 1,000 adults aged 18 and above.
A total of 69 per cent of respondents were in favour of cosmetic surgery, representing a 7 per cent increase on figures from 2006.
Among those surveyed, 78 per cent of women and 79 per cent of men said they would not be embarrassed if others knew they had cosmetic surgery, while 32 per cent of women would consider cosmetic surgery, compared to 20 per cent of men.
According to the latest ASAPS Cosmetic Surgery Statistics, last year saw more than 10.6 million (91 per cent) cosmetic procedures on women in the US, with men having more than 1 million (the remaining 9 per cent).
