The University of California, Irvine Extension, in the US is to offer a new elective course based on educating spa owners, managers and other industry professionals on how to conserve energy and resources within spas.
Called the Fundamentals for Green Spas, the course is intended to support the expanding role of spa businesses as incubators for environmentally-sensitive business practices. It will also provide an overview of international trends in the spa and hospitality industries for green building, green procurement and green business organisations.
Students will analyse green business case studies of hospitality organisations such as Marriott’s Green Marriott initiatives as well as looking at other early adaptors including the Six Senses group and Banyan Tree Resorts.
The two-day course will run in November at the UC Irvine Learning Center. Details: today.uci.edu
