Lightfactor Sales has supplied SPS Audio with a selection of fixtures from Italian lighting manufacturer LDR's extensive theatrical range for a new installation at the UK's award winning Eden Project 'green' attraction.
The equipment was for a new lighting scheme for the Visitor Centre, which covers the Plant Sales, Retail and Ticketing areas, and part of a new look for the Centre as a whole.
It was proposed to install the lighting onto a series of ceiling mounted trusses, which were quite low because of the limited headroom, so wide angled fixtures were required.
A total of 46 LDR Soffio (150W CDM-T lamp) discharge fresnels were ordered, two thirds of which were installed in the Plant Sales and Retail areas and the rest in Ticketing.
SPS also specified 8 LDR Suono MSD 250W discharge fresnels for the entrance area of the Apple Café - also in the Visitor Centre - and to illuminate the sign at the end of Plant Sales.
Additionally supplied by Lightfactor were all the Prolyte X30D triangular truss used to suspend the lights in the ceiling, and the half couplers used to rig all the lights and plasma screens.
The truss consists of one 24m stretch in Plant Sales, complete with a customised angled corner, and another 22m section in Ticketing which has a selection of plasma screens and mesh screens used for signage attached to it. There are also two 5m runs of the smaller E20D in the lower ceilinged retail area.
Since the work was completed, the Eden Project has also taken delivery of 15 SGM PALCO 3 LED luminaries and a Cue Commander lighting desk, which are used for a variety of events and special applications around the attraction.
