A sporting career can be highly unpredictable, and the importance of higher education to support athletes sporting experience is now very significant to ensure you are giving yourself every opportunity to be successful in your future career in Sport and/or Business.
The course is studied part-time, 100% online, which means that the students can fit their studies around training and competition schedules.
The University of Hertfordshire has been working in consultation with the English Institute of Sport and sport professionals to develop this highly tailored course. It launched in September 2014, and those already undertaking the degree and thinking ahead include athletes that have represented Team GB at Olympics, England in Commonwealth and professional staff from Premier League football clubs.
GB Olympic speed skater Jon Eley is one of the first students undertaking the degree.
“As an athlete this course gives you that great balance in life,” he said.
“Not only will it help your performance throughout your career, but it also gives you that confidence that you are making plans for the future, it’s a positive distraction to training and competition.”
