Espere Healthcare has supplied a range of high-tech pyjamas for a trial being run by budget hotel chain Travelodge.
The customised garments are made of a fabric called Dermasilk, which is said to allow the skin to breathe, regulates body temperature - in both hot and cold conditions - and maintains the skin's moisture balance.
It is also claimed that the material - which is created from natural knitted silk - can control body odour and is ideal for people who may suffer from skin disorders since it reduces the symptoms of itching and scratching.
Explaining the rationale behind the experiment, Leigh McCarron, Travelodge Sleep Director said: "As a retailer of sleep, we are constantly
investigating innovative ways with which we can help our customers attain a good night’s sleep.
"Something as simple as changing your bed attire can dramatically affect your quality of sleep."
To support the trial, the company conducted a sleepwear study which examined people's attitude towards nightwear. Its findings have been incorporated into the final pyjama prototype.
The space-age sleepwear will be trialled with customers at five participating Travelodge hotels:
London Heathrow T5, Birmingham Fiveways, Bristol Central, Manchester Central and Edinburgh Central
It's available for both men and women and comes in small, medium, large and extra large sizes, the outfit consisting of leggings, long sleeved tee-shirt, gloves, socks and a facial mask.
