As part of a programme to create a ‘new look’ Hong Kong and increase tourism to the city, Laservision Australia created a spectacular light show across Victoria Harbour during the Chinese New Year.
The A$15.5m Symphony of Light production saw tall city buildings and the waters of the harbour lit by hundreds of thousands of fireworks, lasers, fibre optics, flares and pulsing lights. As they watched, spectators were also able to listen to a sound simulcast.
The simulcast was broadcast from popular viewing spots such as the harbour ferries and could also be dialled into via mobile phones by calling a dedicated number.
The production was built around 18 key buildings to ensure a balanced visual display, each being equipped with Laservision’s Digital Data-Pump technology.
This allowed seamless control of the disparate elements of the show, which included lasers, architectural lighting, surround sound, large format projection and fireworks.
