Longleat has won the Good Britain Guide 2002 Family Attraction of the Year award, one of 31 places named in the Britain's Top Attractions for 2002 category. 'The year 2002 will be a classic year for British holidays', predicts Alisdair Aird, editor of the 6th edition of the guide which this year features 139 new entries. Highlighting a 2002 price survey, the guide features 36 attractions which have cut their admission charges from as much as £7.50 to zero and is 'predicting more price cuts to come'. Most other places have held their prices stable with 53 per cent of the 2,168 places to visit in the guide holding their charges. However it warns that 'too many establishments are determined to swim against the tide'. Around half of all hotels, inns B&Bs and restaurants have raised their prices by an average of 10 per cent and 44 per cent of attractions have raised admission charges by an average of no less than 15 per cent.'
