Nicholas Grimshaw, who designed Cornwall's botanical garden the Eden Project, has been awarded a knighthood. The £80m giant ecological greenhouse near St Austell has attracted more than 1,750,000 visitors since opening in March 2001, double the expected attendance. The project was designed to raise public awareness about environmental issues by recreating climates from around the world. The Eden project has been the subject of further press attention recently with speculation that Eon Productions will film the next James Bond movie in the famous biospheres, which re-create everything from the Amazonian rainforest to the paddy fields of south-east Asia.
