Horizon Leisure Trust, which operates the Waterlooville Leisure Centre in Hampshire, is providing backwash water to the local authority for watering flowerbeds in the borough.
The centre, which had the water checked to ensure it was suitable to be used, now provides around 15,000 gallons of water a week to help alleviate the current drought conditions in the area.
A spokesperson for the leisure trust said: “This is a win win situation as the trust does not have to pay for the disposal of this water and the borough does not need to purchase from the water board.” Details: www.horizonlt.com
