Everyone Active centres undergo revamp
POSTED 19 Aug 2016 . BY Deven Pamben
The centre in Sunderland has undergone a £1.8m revamp
Everyone Active leisure centres are undergoing a revamp as part of an ongoing refurbishment project.

Facilities in the London boroughs of Westminster and Southwark are having more than £11m spent on them, with work being carried out this month.

In April, Everyone Active was named Southwark Council’s sports and leisure services partner for the next seven years. A total of £2.7m is being invested in facilities in the borough.

At its Dulwich Leisure Centre, new Technogym equipment, Wattbikes and Gravity machines are being introduced and there will be a new free weights area. Redecoration of the exercise studios will mean the centre will offer 80 classes per week including yoga, pilates and zumba. Work at the centre will begin towards the end of the month and is expected to be completed early September.

In the borough of Westminster, £9m will be pumped into leisure facilities. Everyone Active took over the contract to run centres in the borough in July.

Westminster City Council is presiding over proposals which would see money being spent on the floorspace and fitness equipment at the Paddington Recreation Ground, and renovations at Everyone Active's Porchester Centre, Queen Mother Sports Centre, Little Venice Sports Centre and Marshall Street facility.

The council is expected to rubber stamp the proposals towards the end of the month.

Elsewhere in the country, work has been carried out on Silksworth Community Pool, Tennis and Wellness Centre in Sunderland, which has undergone more than £1.8m worth of investment to improve facilities.

At Frogmore Leisure Centre in Yateley, Hampshire, redevelopment work is set to be completed this weekend, with the centre available for use on Monday (22 August 2016). Hart District Council and Everyone Active have invested £1.5m and £300,000 respectively on improvements.

David Bibby, Everyone Active managing director, said: “We are committed to offering the highest standard of facilities and ensuring that customers have the best experience when visiting our centres. Our priority is to help more people lead active, healthier lives, and improving the facilities at our centres will help us achieve this.”
