Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is set to unveil The Mayor’s Residence, a private nine-bedroom palace which offers guests exclusive wellness perks as well as the services of the existing five-star hotel.

Opening its doors on 1 September 2020, guests of The Mayor’s Residence will be treated to exclusive use of the hotel’s award-winning Guerlain Spa and unlimited treatments.

The spa can be accessed directly from The Mayor’s Residencen and guests will have sole use of the facility to ensure total privacy, including its three treatment rooms, indoor pool, sauna, steamroom and relaxation room.

The spa offers a wide variety of treatments to balance and revitalise body, mind and spirit. A highlight is the spa's signature Fusion Experience treatment, created exclusively for Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam.

Composed of a massage, using hot oil and water ice bubbles, the treatment is designed to recreate the fusion between earth and water which characterises Amsterdam.

The new three-floor residence is steeped in history and will host guests with their own personal accommodation team, including a Guerlain spa therapist, butler, private chef, concierge and housekeeper, who will take care of their every need.

The existing Waldorf hotel overlooks the UNESCO-protected Herengracht canal and is spread throughout six 17th century residential palaces owned by the city’s wealthiest individuals during The Dutch Golden Age.

The Mayor’s Residence was built in 1665 for Hendrik Hooft, one of Amsterdam’s most influential mayors, and decorated by Hendrik’s wife Maria Hooft. The palace retains many of its original Rococo features to this day and is regarded as an architectural masterpiece with a Neo-Renaissance style.

The residence sits adjacent to the hotel with its own private entrance and sleeps 15 guests in nine bedrooms and can seat all guests for private meals in an exclusive dining area.

Located in the heart of Amsterdam on the iconic Gentleman’s Canal, The Mayor’s Residence at Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is claimed to combine timeless Dutch history with legendary Waldorf Service.
