Swissline has opened a flagship day spa in Zurich, Switzerland, called Labo Spa. It acquired the wellness location that had been operating since 2005 at the start of 2025, before renovating the property.

Swissline says the 700sq m space has been conceived as a physical expression of both the original Labo Spa and Swissline identities. The company describes this combination as ‘Swiss, but not traditional and scientific, but not clinical’. The objective was to create a memorable flagship environment where architecture, skincare expertise and hospitality become one coherent experience.

Christophe Lesueur, Swissline CEO, told Spa Business: “Swissline’s acquisition of Labo Spa was a natural and strategic step for the brand. We have been closely connected to the spa for 18 years and it has long embodied our approach to Swiss cellular skincare and personalised professional treatments.

“By bringing Labo Spa fully into Swissline, we are strengthening our ability to create, test and refine the next generation of skincare experiences – from protocols and therapist training to client journeys and longevity-focused treatments. It gives us a unique flagship environment in Zurich where the brand can be experienced in its most complete form.”

Facilities

The spa has 10 treatment rooms. Four of these are for beauty treatments, six are for massages – one of these is a couple’s suite with a hot tub. One of the beauty rooms is dedicated to  a new series of Swissline Haute Couture Treatments. These therapies involve the use of other technologies, such as OxyLight by Raja Medical, Hydrafacials and microneedling.

A 90-minute Swissline Haute Couture Treatment uses OxyLight technologies depending on guests’ outcomes. These technologies include oxygen therapy, LED light, microcurrent and diamond microdermabrasion. This therapy costs CHF 350 (US$434, €372, £322).

Other facilities include a relaxation area called the Cocoon, a boutique, changing rooms and showers. There is also a skin consultation area, which uses the Observ Skin Diagnostic Device. Spa linens are by RKF Luxury Linen.

The design

Interior designer and founder of Studio La Petite, Virginie Petit, worked on the spa design to create a space that feels calm, refined and contemporary. The sculptural mountain-inspired surfaces within the property reflect the Swiss landscape, providing a strong visual identity and connection to nature. In contrast, tinted and semi-transparent glass has been used throughout the spa to introduce softness, reflective movement and lightness. The glass light fixtures are by Tom Dixon.

Translucent elements and mineral surfaces in nude, beige and warm neutral tones echo the concept of skin and skincare itself.

Management

Swissline appointed Maartje Semdaji as MD in May 2025 to run the property. Semdaji has held prior roles in hospitality and wellness environments including Bürgenstock Hotel & Resort Lake Lucerne and Mandarin Oriental Palace Lucerne.

Semdaji said: “At the heart of LABO Spa remains its exceptional team of therapists and wellness professionals. With many longstanding team members and a loyal client community, the spa continues to build on its heritage while introducing new approaches centred around beauty longevity and personalised wellbeing."
