The Sustainable Beauty Coalition (SBC) will host a virtual beauty event streamed live from the COP26 - UN Climate Change Conference.

As leaders from around the world gather in Glasgow to tackle climate change, the coalition’s Planet Positive event will be hosted on Tuesday 2 November from 4:00 - 5:00PM (GMT) and focus on how consumers can make greener beauty choices.

Formed by the British Beauty Council, the SBC aims to accelerate the sustainability efforts in the beauty industry and work with government representatives to support the race to net zero campaign.

The Planet Positive event will see journalist, author and British Vogue’s contributing beauty editor kathleen baird-murray host a panel to explore how we can all be more planet positive.

She will be joined by SBC representatives including Jayn Sterland, Jo-Anne Chidley, Oriele Frank, Helen Cox, Jessi Baker, and Michelle Feeney.

Tickets are free to all – click here to register for the virtual event.

To further its progress, the SBC also recently produced the Planet Positive Beauty Guide to help consumers make greener beauty choices more confidently.

According to the coalition, beauty consumers are more conscious of their purchasing choices now than ever before, yet many beauty brands continue to “greenwash” shoppers by making misleading claims about the sustainability of their products.

In line with this, the guide has been designed to help consumers navigate through the minefield of confusing ingredient jargon and claims.

“Collaboration is critical to tackling climate change,” comments CEO of the British Beauty Council Millie Kendall MBE, “I’m so proud to have witnessed the coming together of some of the industry’s leading experts who created an easy-to-follow consumer guide, enabling us to make conscious decisions about beauty products and services.

“This guide thoroughly tackles greenwashing.”
