The England and Wales Cricket Board National Academy will be housed at Loughborough University, an English Institute of Sport site. A total £4.4m is needed to build an indoor cricket centre and residential accommodation, which is to be funded by Sport England and the university. Work on the new facilities will start as soon as possible. The concept of the National Academy was launched this year and the first intake of students are currently training in Australia at the home of the Australian National Academy. We are confident that Loughborough can provide an excellent site for ECB to develop the next generation of Test cricketers, said Dr Guy Jackson, director or cricket at Loughborough University.
