Bahamas US$168m project to include Six Senses resort

A recently-approved US$168m (€150m, £116m) expansion of the Deep Water Cay Resort in the Bahamas will include Six Senses as the operator of a five-star, mixed use resort, according to a news release from the Bahamian government. Representatives from Six Senses were not able to comment on the news.

Dr Michael Darville, minister for Grand Bahama, said the build-out will be phased over a seven-year period and will include 68 hotel units, including 56 hotel bedrooms and 65 custom-built residences, as well as a 7,000sq ft (650sq m), two-storey spa and fitness facility.

The resort is also to include five restaurants, a cooking school for guests and 2,500sq ft (232sq m) of meeting and events space.

Deep Water Cay is a fishing resort founded by Palm Beach guide Gil Drake Sr and Field & Stream editor A.J. McClane, and currently includes guest cottages and private residences.
