Guest bookings at the resort are currently close to 100 per cent
Banyan Tree Samui in Koh Samui, Thailand has launched a spa package to ride the wave of popularity generated by the island being the setting for the HBO TV series, The White Lotus.

A satirical TV series, The White Lotus explores human dramas in a fictional resort and its guests. It was filmed at Four Seasons Samui.

A spokesperson told Spa Business bookings at Banyan Tree Samui are close to 100 per cent occupancy and that The White Lotus-related enquiries are "constant".

Banyan Tree's 'Sense of Lotus' package includes programmes of meditation, fitness, healthy cuisine and yoga in rainforest hideaways that are reminiscent of those in the TV show – minus the drama. The locally-infused welcome beverage guests receive on arrival are also similar to those delivered to the series’ characters.

In the spa, a 120-minute rejuvenating treatment starts with a White Lotus Polisher, which is a scrub with fine bead powder made from lotus seeds to gently exfoliate and renew the skin.

This is followed by a relaxing Sense of Lotus body massage, designed to calm the mind and body using soothing, long strokes and thumb pressure.

Banyan Tree is also serving a new ‘White Lotus’ cocktail, made with vodka, white rum, lychee juice, lime juice, milk and fresh lychee – garnished with dried Damask rose petals.

A new speedboat will take guests on tours of nearby islands and the limestone cliffs of Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park, which characters of The White Lotus visit during the series.

The custom-built 12-metre boat, called Sense of the Sea, will cater for luxury day trips, picnics and special occasions and has capacity for 15 people, plus three crew members.

Boat excursions are planned to the TV series’ Full Moon Party location, Koh Pangan, while trips to barely inhabited nearby islands can also be organised, to allow guests to discover local wildlife and to swim and snorkel.

Banyan Tree Samui is a 38-acre resort overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, set on a mountainous site within jungle in a private bay. The resort has a spa with 10 treatment pavilions and a rainforest hydrotherapy facility.

The property has three restaurants and 88 villas set up the mountainside, each with its own an infinity pool. The highest villa has a view of the curve of the earth.

Paul Hawco, global director of integrated wellbeing, Banyan Tree, recently told Spa Business about the company’s plan to introduce onsen bathrooms in guest rooms at its wellness hotels.
