The Sanctuary Beach Resort has opened a new spa at its 19-acre shoreline property in Monterey, California, US. The Spa at Sanctuary will provide spa experiences for the local Monterey community as well as resort guests, and draws inspiration from its natural surroundings, utilising elements of the land and the sea in a customised, holistic approach to overall wellness.
The treatment menu at The Spa at Sanctuary centres around traditional massage and facials, as well as custom treatments focusing on body care and total wellness.
Body care treatments include the Salt Wood Spa RX, a sea salt exfoliation designed to aid the body in releasing toxins while unveiling a healthy glow. This treatment uses a custom, seasonally-inspired, farm-to-table salt blend created daily by chefs at the resort’s signature restaurant, Salt Wood Kitchen & Oysterette, and is available for purchase at the spa.
The Detox + Hydrate Body Care Treatment is a detoxifying brush exfoliation designed to support the lymph system and promote natural healing through a nutrient-rich body mask, chakra stones, anti-ageing face massage and full-body massage.
Inspired by the sea, the Pacific Ocean Body Care Treatment includes a basalt stone face massage, a mineral-rich seaweed body mask and full body massage.
Additional wellness services also available at the Monterey spa include private yoga, guided meditation, active stretching, guided nature walks, and Stillness, an experience that uses multiple therapeutic modalities to recharge spiritual energy and disconnect from life’s stress.
A curated selection of luxurious spa products is available for guests to purchase. Among these products is Privai Skincare’s Discovery Kit full of naturally inspired, botanically based skincare essentials, the Lux Collection Therapy Spa Wrap with lavender scent and OSEA for Parachute Sleep Time Bath Salts made from Himalayan pink salt to soak away stress before bedtime.
The spa design, spearheaded by Farouki Farouki, echoes the natural scenery and beauty of the spa’s locale on the California coast. Accessed through the resort’s main Lodge, spa guests are greeted in the newly constructed spa lobby, which features a large front desk area highlighted by natural, wooden accent beams, custom gold light fixtures and polished concrete flooring.
The design palette incorporates sand colors, grey tones and sea blue. Designed to stimulate ultimate relaxation, plush, oversized lounge chairs and calming music fill the relaxation room, while the intimate spa boasts three treatment rooms that feature tranquil light-blue walls, soft lighting, cozy rugs, large arm chairs and beach imagery.
Sanctuary Beach Resort is located on the protected Marina Dunes Preserve, and includes 60 cottage guestrooms and suites.
