Brook Hotels acquires Mollington Hotel for £6m
POSTED 28 Jul 2006 . BY
Kent-based Brook Hotels has bought the 62-room Mollington Hotel & Spa in Cheshire from Hand Picked Hotels, also based in Kent, UK, for a reported £6m.

The hotel boasts conference and meeting facilities as well as a health and leisure club with indoor swimming pool, sauna, spa and gymnasium.

Brook Hotels was advised by Southampton-based property consultant Atisreal.

Umesh Ummat, managing director of Brook Hotels, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mollington to our portfolio. We will be restoring the property back to its original name of Mollington Banastre Hotel & Spa and we look forward to a successful transition.”

Julia Hands – who co-founded Hand Picked Hotels with her husband Guy Hands, CEO of Terra Firma, which owns the Odeon and UCI cinema chains – added: “Mollington is a fantastic property but one which has always sat outside the core Hand Picked Hotels vision and, as such, was never a long-term property for us as we focus on consolidating our brand.”

Hand Picked Hotels was formed in 1999 and is a privately owned company with a collection of 14 former country houses across the UK, with 685 bedrooms and more than 100 meeting rooms. Details: www.brook-hotels.co.uk
