Casa de Campo Resort & Villas is gearing up to reopen the doors to its spa in Q2 of 2023 following a US$25M (£20.5m, €23.5m) makeover project.

Set over 7,000 tropical acres in La Romana on the Dominican Republic's south-eastern coast, the luxury resort with residences opened 50 years ago and is claimed to be one of the country’s first resorts.

Casa de Campo is upgrading and expanding its existing spa to encompass more than 18,000sq ft of indoor and outdoor facilities. The new Spa & Wellness Centre will be home to 13 treatment rooms each featuring a private garden and outdoor rain shower.

A refreshed spa menu will blend traditional spa treatments and natural locally-sourced indigenous products. Tech-forward rituals from JetPeel and Gharieni will also be on offer, including Gharieni’s MLX i3Dome Triple Detox Therapy experiences as well as binaural acoustic & dynamic stimulation on its Welnamis Table.

In addition to this, guests will have access to a dedicated spa concierge.

Spa facilities will include an extensive hydrothermal circuit, a sauna, a steamroom, a vitality pool, a cold plunge, laconium loungers and an outdoor spa pool.

Casa de Campo is working with spa and wellness consultancy and design firm Prim Spa to breathe new life into the facility.

“We also collaborated with Room 1804 Design, Hutchinson Consulting and Selman Arquitectos to redesign our spa to reflect a sense of place, provide a unique guest experience and offer facilities that create a luxurious environment,” said Jason Kycek, Casa de Campo senior vice president of sales and marketing, speaking exclusively to Spa Business.

The wellness facility has been upgraded after guests and homeowners became eager for a true destination spa on the property, he explains.

“Our current spa has always been popular but thanks to its upcoming dramatic increase in size and new wide range of state-of-the-art amenities, we’ll be able to offer even more treatments and wellness experiences for our guests.”

Visitors to the spa will be able to complement their journey with fresh Dominican coffee, smoothies and light meals at the Spa Cafe and Juice Bar, fresh, seasonal and locally-grown produce.

The new spa will be open to day guests, hotel and villa guests, as well as Casa de Campo’s residential community.

Peaceful privacy
According to the Casa de Campo team, the resort is favoured by A-list celebrities, royalty and heads of state. In light of this, the new Spa & Wellness Centre will offer a discreet ‘spa within a spa’ for VIPs, groups and for use as a Bridal Suite.

The area will feature a private entrance, lounge, treatment area, makeup station, dressing area, bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, as well as a personal vitality pool, private bar and refreshment area.

2023 will also see the unveiling of the destinations’ new Premier Club at Casa de Campo, home to 58 brand new accommodations designed for exclusivity, personalised service and privacy.
