Hyatt completes latest phase of Indian Wells resort refurbishment

A Hyatt resort in Indian Wells, California, US, has been relaunched with new facilities and a new name following the completion of the latest phase of its multi-million dollar overhaul.

The renovation programme at Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa - formerly Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa - commenced in February 2008.

New additions have included the opening of Citrus Marketplace and Café, while recent work also featured an upgraded lobby area and an expansion of the private villas element. The project is being funded by owner Dick Monfort.

Resort general manager Allan Farwell said: "With the ongoing renovations and refreshes on property, we strive to continue to provide an unmatched oasis for guests and locals alike to relax, play and indulge in Indian Wells."

Among the facilities at the 530-bedroom resort are the 30,000sq ft (2,787sq m) Agua Serena Spa housing 18 treatment rooms and the Medical and Skin Spa led by Dr Richard Foxx.

The Agua Serena Spa hasn't undergone any recent renovation work, but launched an entirely new spa menu created by spa director Karina Chung in February to mark its 10th anniversary.

Palm Desert-based The Body Deli teamed up with the Agua Serena Spa to create an exclusive product line using native plants from the California desert - such as cactus and dates.
