ISPA and global beauty and spa therapy educational organisation, CIDESCO, are collaborating to tackle the training and staffing issues in the world of spa.

Recent ISPA data suggests that nearly half (46 per cent) of all spas are actively hiring massage therapists, while more than a third (37 per cent) are seeking nail technicians and almost a quarter (22 per cent) are searching for estheticians.

According to the organisations, often the greatest challenge to filling these vacancies is finding qualified candidates.

ISPA and CIDESCO believe their collaboration will respond to that challenge by increasing awareness of and demand for careers in the spa industry, which is critical as spas continue their recovery from the pandemic.

“With this collaboration, we’re very excited to raise the awareness of CIDESCO resources and look forward to working more closely with ISPA to create further success and growth in the spa industry,” said CIDESCO Section USA chair Lydia Sarfati.

Additional details about ISPA and CIDESCO’s collaborative efforts will be announced as they develop.

ISPA president, Lynne McNees, believes the collaboration also furthers ISPA’s mission to strengthen the spa industry by working alongside organisations who provide its members with meaningful, industry-advancing resources and opportunities.

“Our organisation is constantly seeking collaborative ways to raise the profile of our industry and promote opportunities for growth and advancement among our members,” she said.

“CIDESCO’s commitment to high educational standards for current and future generations of spa professionals makes them ideal in pursuit of those goals. We’re excited for our members to learn more about everything CIDESCO has to offer.”
