Research company Intelligent Spas has conducted an inaugural survey of spa facilities in Taiwan and found a total of 317 spas currently open and operating.
The report, entitled Spa Industry Profile Taiwan 2006-2008, features more than 400 quantitative statistics on the country’s spa market alongside supporting qualitative trends and observations from spa owners and managers.
The research found that the Taiwanese spa market was dominated by stand-alone day spas, which accounted for a total of 81 per cent of spas in the country, while a total of 6 per cent of spas were located in hotels and resorts.
Forty eight per cent of all the spas in the survey were located in Taipei while the average indoor area was 4,919sq ft (457sq m) and spas had seven treatment rooms, on average.
