The Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort and Spa in Honduras is running its annual four-night retreat in celebration of Global Wellness Day (14 June).
Up until 15 June, the resort will offer fitness classes, sound bath meditations, farm-to-table dining experiences, workshops and more – led by the resort’s practitioners and instructors.
The wellness offerings have been designed around the Global Wellness Day theme of reconnection. Guests can take part in a beach clean up initiative to play a part in the resort’s efforts to maintain a healthy ecosystem and stay connected to nature.
A meditative breath-holding workshop will take place before a 30-minute guided snorkel around the resort’s coral reef.
Later in the week a yoga class with a focus on laughter will offer guests a chance to release stress and boost happiness.
Connecting with the local communityMany of the events throughout the retreat will highlight the importance of giving back to the community. The resort does this through its non-profit organisation called The Abundant Life Foundation (ALF). The organisation connects Hondurans to the resources, support and education they need to secure housing, education and build community engagement.
Guests of the resort are invited to get involved in the ALF’s endeavours. Executive chef Guido Ojeda will provide dining experiences that invite guests to learn local cooking traditions and sample the flavours of the Caribbean – with ingredients that come straight from the ALF farm.
A workshop on the healing properties of the plants of Roatán will also be on offer – again highlighting the local produce that the community produces.
