There will also be 27 residential plots on the site
The property will be operated by Kymel,

Kirklevington Hall, a former country house hotel in North Yorkshire, UK, has received planning permission for a £25 million redevelopment.

The historic estate, which previously traded as the Judges Hotel, will be transformed into a high-end mixed-use leisure destination with a five-star 18-key boutique hotel and spa, as well as a separate gated community with 27 residential plots.

In addition to the enhancement of the Hall, the new spa will have treatment rooms, relaxation areas, a swimming pool, thermal facilities, and an exercise studio.

The masterplan includes 20 woodland lodges, an events space within the historic walled garden, a conversion of the former stables for events and hospitality, as well as a new dining venue.

Property developer Chris Musgrave is leading the scheme and construction is set to start in the next few months. Architectural design is by GSSArchitecture and planning consultancy Lichfields.

Musgrave believes the addition of a luxury spa destination will address a regional market gap. He said: “This is a prominent site in a prime location, rich in history and local significance. Our vision is to celebrate its heritage while creating a destination of genuine regional and national appeal. The development will revitalise the area and deliver meaningful economic benefits for the wider community.”

The hotel, which will be operated by Kymel, is expected to support 80 to 120 permanent roles across hospitality, wellness, events and estate management functions.

Paul Mackings, chair of Kymel, said: “We’re delighted that planning permission has now been secured. Kirklevington Hall presents a rare opportunity to create a truly special destination, incorporating spa breaks, fine dining and luxury overnight stays, bespoke weddings and high-end events. This development will deliver a premium hospitality experience that addresses a gap in the North East market.”
