A large new 12,916sq ft (1,200sq m) spa is due to open within Portugal’s Tróia Design Hotel in January 2009.

Located in the transitional area between the hotel, the casino and the entertainment centre, on the west elevation of the Praça Central, the contemporary spa will include a fitness area and specialised treatment rooms.

There will also be a special zone focusing on balneotherapy, complete with a indoor swimming pool, sauna and a Turkish bath.

The top floor of the spa will boast a relaxation area, a bar with views of the beach and the Arrábida hills, landscaped areas and another two connected swimming pools.

The property is around an hour’s drive from Lisbon and is located on a peninsula overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
