New maternity wellness retreat opens in London

A non-medical wellness centre – Mermaid Maternity Retreat – has launched in London, UK offering services designed to help guests through pregnancy and the months that follow.

Located on Kings Road in Chelsea, the specialist retreat looks to become the go-to-address for those wanting ante and postnatal care, as well as being a nurturing place to stay in the first few days after the birth.

Skincare specialists QMS Medicosmetics has tailored a selection of skincare and treatments suited for antenatal and postnatal services.

Featured in this collection are four specially created treatments including a revitalising ‘Recover Your Skin Facial’ designed to improve the wellness of the skin and provide an boost to moisture levels which are often depleted during pregnancy. For the body, there is a restorative ‘Foot Treatment,’ a hydrating ‘Hand Treatment,’ and an upper ‘Body Treatment’ which focuses on maintaining the elasticity and vitality of the skin.

Wellness offerings include osteopathy, paediatric osteopathy, acupuncture, reflexology and massage.

Guests are invited to stay at the retreat and accommodation includes 14 maternity-friendly bedrooms. The centre is designed to support guests during the first few days after birth or at any time within the three months.

Mermaid’s Mother and Baby Team include breast feeding specialists to help with breast or bottle feeding. There is also a 24-hour supervised Baby Zone where we can babies are looked after if mother’s need to catch up on sleep.

In addition, guests will be seen by specialist women’s health physiotherapists and a community midwife.

A host of post birth exercise regimes will be on offer to help ease new mother back into fitness. Classes include pregnancy yoga, a specifically designed class that incorporates a series of gentle stretching postures, breathing techniques, positions for labour and relaxation methods to support you during pregnancy, giving you skills to draw on during birth.

Other fitness offering are pregnancy pilates, activemum, postnatal yoga, postnatal pilates, mother and baby yoga and baby massage.

Beauty are features at the retreat and guests can avail of manicures and pedicures, facials, massages and waxing treatments.
