Independently owned Barnham Broom Hotel & Golf Club, Norfolk, has appointed a new operations director to take the facility into the next stage of development.
Noel Byrne, formally group operations director for an Essex-based hotel group, said: “This new role is a great personal challenge and Barnham Broom Hotel & Golf Club has tremendous potential.”
Byrne will be responsible for the running and future improvement of the hotel, with its 52 bedrooms, two 18-hole golf courses and Edge health and fitness club. He also has responsibility for its sister hotel, Bedford Lodge Hotel, in Newmarket.
His immediate goal is to achieve four-star status for Barnham Broom Hotel & Golf Club, while also overseeing the investment the company is making in its conference and banqueting facilities.
Byrne said he hopes to extend the hotel’s sporting facilities, which include Norfolk’s only England Squash Gold accredited club, “to make Barnham Broom a true ‘resort’ hotel including the potential addition of a health and beauty spa.”
As chair of the Eastern Region of the British Hospitality Association (BHA), Byrne will also represent the BHA on the Regional Tourism Council for the next two years.
Previous operations director, Michael Dickson, has moved back to his native Scotland in a non-executive director role. He will oversee the company’s The Edge Health Club in Edinburgh.
