A new trade association looking to develop and maintain standards in the Indian spa industry will be launched later this year.
Spa Association of India (SAI) will look to work alongside national and regional tourism boards as well as operators, manufacturers and distributors to set quality standards and encourage education, preventive health and hygiene measures within the spa, health and wellness industry.
One of SAI's key goals will be to set up a system of training accreditation which is currently lacking in the country.
One of the driving forces behind the setting up of the trade body has been consultant Rajesh Sharma, founder of spasindia.com.
Sharma said that an exact launch date for the association will be announced shortly.
