A new spa featuring salt-inspired treatments has opened within the Relais San Maurizio hotel in the Piedmont region of Italy.
The 3,280sq ft (304.7sq m) La Via del Sale spa is located in what were wine cellars.
Treatments combine a range of traditional and holistic therapies and include warm salt baths, scrubs and massages. The healing qualities of salt form the signature base to many spa therapies.
The salt used in the signature treatments is derived from southern Sardinia and can be used to treat a range of conditions, including psoriasis, hives and osteoarthritis. A range of other Eastern-influenced massages, such as ayurvedic and Indian four-hands, are also offered while other facilities include an indoor swimming pool and a sun terrace.
The Relais San Maurizio hotel is located in an area that was part of the Salt Route - the famous path connecting Italy and France. Formerly a 17th century monastery, once home to Franciscan monks, the luxury hotel is situated on a hilltop in the Piedmont and is a Relais & Chateaux property. Details: relaissanmaurizio.it
