Ritz Carlton’s Astana spa to feature seasonal treatments
POSTED 01 Aug 2017 . BY Tom Walker
The spa houses a luxurious couple’s treatment suite with its own spa pool
The new spa at the recently opened Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Astana, capital city of Kazakhstan, will feature a seasonal treatment menu.

Covering a total floor space of 1,390sq m (14,900sq ft), the spa houses five treatment rooms and a luxurious couple’s treatment suite with its own spa pool.

Other facilities include a relaxation area, indoor swimming pool, saunas, steamrooms, yoga studio and a 45-station health and fitness zone kitted out with Technogym equipment.

The treatment menu, featuring ESPA products, has been designed to change seasonally, mirroring the radical changes in weather experienced in Astana each year between winter and summer.

Due to its extreme continental climate, Astana has hot summers and long, very cold, dry winters. Summer temperatures in June to August reach +35 °C (95 °F), while -6 to -1 °C (22 to 31 °F) are common place between mid-December and early March.

One of the spa’s signature treatments, inspired by the city of Astana, is the “Traditional Body Blizz” – a full-body experience combining a body wrap using local ingredients and massage to “restore equilibrium and peace of mind”.

Ritz-Carlton Astana, which opened on 5 June, is owned by Verny Capital Group and has 157 bedrooms – including 32 suites – as well as 27 residences, all of which offer panoramic city views.

Designed by US architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the hotel has been built as a natural extension of the square around the nearby Bayterek Tower, a monument and symbol of modern Astana.

“Much like the monument it overlooks, The Ritz-Carlton, Astana represents the future of Astana and acknowledges the city’s growing power and prominence,” said Hervé Humler, president and CEO of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

“By bringing The Ritz-Carlton’s legacy of service together with Kazakhstan’s traditional culture of hospitality, our guests will feel truly at home in this city as they experience all that Astana has to offer as it comes into its own.”

The US-based Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is part of hospitality giant Marriott International and currently operates more than 90 hotels and 40 residential properties in 30 countries and territories.
