Second batch of WAF Award winners revealed

Jordan's Wadi Rum Resort and China's Zhang Da Qian Museum have been named among the second batch of winners at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) Awards 2011.

The second day of the three-day event saw four completed buildings and nine future projects pick up awards, which also included the Glacier Discovery Walk in Canada.

Wadi Rum Resort, which has been designed US-based Oppenheim Architecture and Design, was named as the Future Project of the Year - Commercial.

Spain-based practice Miralles Tagliabue EMBT's work on Zhang Da Qian Museum saw the Neijang attraction awarded the Future Project of the Year - Cultural accolade.

Meanwhile, the Glacier Discovery Walk is designed by Canada-based Sturgess Architecture and was crowned the Future Project of the Year - Competition Entries.

The first day of the WAF Awards 2011 in Barcelona, Spain, saw 12 projects pick up prizes, with each category winner now in the running for the World Building of the Year accolade, as well as Structural Project of the Year and Future Project of the Year.
