Six Senses Ibiza has opened today (10 July 2021). The property – conceived by architect and developer Jonathan Leitersdorf – is a year-round destination set in Xarraca Bay at the northern tip of the island, 35 minutes drive-time from the airport.

The resort features 116 guest rooms and has been integrated into the contours of the bay to enable guests to enjoy unobstructed sunsets.

In addition to rooms and suites, Six Senses has also introduced cave suites built into the cliffs, along with a handful of Village Residences for larger groups or longer-term stays.

The resort delivers Six Senses' Integrated Wellness programmes, based on the company's six pillars of wellness – sleep, eat, spa, move, mindfulness and grow.

The spa offers signature and locally-inspired treatments, biohacking to "optimise the body’s natural recovery systems", multi-layered wellness workshops and bespoke skincare solutions.

It also has an Alchemy Bar, in-house experts and visiting practitioners.

Six Senses Ibiza will offer immersive retreats twice a year, designed to "lead guests to great consciousness, passion, reconnection, and a reawakened sense of self".

The first two – 'Grow a New Body with Dr Villoldo' and 'Journey to Profound Transformation with Marisa Peer' – will take place this September, while the first of a series of recurring YogaFlow and BodyFlow immersions will take place October 20-26, incorporating the benefits of movement, community and self-care to "ignite a new zest for life".

For guests short of time, the resort also offers 'mini immersions' in as little as 90 minutes.

Six Senses has collaborated with Fashionizer Spa to create bespoke spa uniforms for therapists, inspired by Six Senses' colour palette of bright olive, pebble grey and pearl white.

Fitness is high on the agenda, with both group and private wellness classes, functional fitness, running trails and jungle gyms. The Rose Bar is a destination for longevity programmes, combining diagnostics with nutritional guidance and modern healing methods to optimise health and performance.

The 12,900sq ft (1,200sq m) space houses a fitness area, rooftop yoga platform, outdoor boxing ring, steamroom, salon and hot bath.

There's also a focus on meditation and mindfulness and the option to enjoy Eat With Six Senses food offerings that use natural, local and sustainable ingredients.

Chef Eyal Shani has been drafted in to bring his plant-based cuisine to the resort, which has a flagship dining destination, HaSalon Ibiza. Shani says he plans to harness the island’s natural produce, avocados, watermelons, oranges, lemons and Ibiza rock salt and olive oil.

The property is partly powered by renewable energy – the company says up to 51 per cent at any given time – and has zero waste and zero single-use plastic targets, enabling it to achieve the status of first BREEAM resort in the Balearic Islands.

The resort also features a real estate development in the form of Six Senses Residences Ibiza. With options from four- to seven-bedrooms, the for-sale properties have been designed for year-round living.

Residents have access to all resort services and amenities including in-room dining, access to a Guest Experience Maker and wellness programming. Owners also receive added benefits across the Six Senses portfolio, including exclusive room rates.

Starting rates for Six Senses Ibiza Resort begin at €750 (£640, US$890) per night for the hot season and €390 (£333, US$463) per night for the cool season.
