A new non-profit organisation has been launched for the spa and wellness sector in Russia and the CIS.
The first meeting of the Spa and Wellness International Council (SWIC) was held in Moscow on 30 January and issues discussed included the future cooperation of SWIC with the international spa community.
The setting of national standards for the Russian spa and wellness industry were also on the agenda.
As part of its remit, SWIC has announced a number of conferences, the next being organised on 21 February 2011 with the title Harmony of Body and Soul: Illusions, Reality and Compromise.
SWIC also plans to expand its membership base internationally, and a meeting of international (non-Russian) experts who have joined SWIC will be held in one of the European countries in the "nearest future".
