St Andrews Bay Golf Resort & Spa in Fife, Scotland, is to invest £12m to expand its accommodation provision and a further £8m on new leisure facilities, including a spa.
The additional accommodation will comprise 37 lodges built around a revamped steading on the grounds.
The revamped steading will provide an additional 16,500sq ft (1,500sq m) spa, which will include a 30ft (10m) swimming pool, 14 treatment rooms, a spa bath and steamroom, as well as a 2,500sq ft (230sq m) bistro.
The new lodges will be sold to private buyers as holiday homes, but when not occupied will be managed and let by the resort to hotel guests.
Architects Hurd Rolland will start work following planning approval from Fife Council.
