A new destination spa is to open in November this year in a converted 17th Century coach house in the Vale of Clwyd, north Wales.

Comprising three, self-contained spa cottages, the St Dyfnog Springs Spa will be located above the path of the medieval healing spring of St Dyfnog, which can be traced back to the 6th Century and is a sanctified water source.

Designed by Wales-based Alwyn Rowlands of Ainsley Gommon Architects, the spa will cover a total area 64,583sq ft (6,000sq m) and feature a thermal suite, which will include a herbal sauna, steamroom, tepidariums, a hydrotherapy pool, ice fountain and relaxation zones.

Other facilities will include an organic cafe, tepidariums, a fully equipped gym, conference facilities and outdoor seated areas.

The spa is owned by Emma Louise Jones, who will also manage the spa and ESPA has been appointed as project consultant.
