Spa opens in Hämeenlinna
POSTED 28 Mar 2006 . BY
A new resort spa has opened in the town of Hämeenlinna in Finland.

The 6,000sq m (64,600sq ft) spa is a joint development between the town council, property investment company Dividum and Finnish hotel operator Restel.

The 17.5m euro (£12m, US$21m) spa has been built as an extension to the existing 246-room Rantasipi hotel and the two will be linked via a heated walkway.

Facilities at the spa will include 10 treatment rooms, a 25m swimming pool, a multi-use pool, water massage pools, cold water plunge pools and a 34sq m (365sq ft) outdoor pool.

Other amenities include seven saunas – one of which has its own conference room and a private balcony overlooking Lake Aulanko.

Ralf Sandström, Restel’s president, said: “We are creating a one-of-a-kind resort in which the history of the region meets modern luxury in a unique way.”

Restel recently opened the Holiday Inn City West hotel in the Finnish capital of Helsinki and currently owns 43 hotels and resorts under five brand names – Cumulus, Rantasipi, Ramada, Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza.

Dividum is UK-based London & Regional Properties’ Finnish arm.Details: www.restel.fi and www.dividum.fi
