SpaFinder releases 2008 trends report
POSTED 15 Feb 2008 . BY Sarah Todd
Spa marketing company SpaFinder has issued its fifth annual trends report for the international spa industry.

The report is based on input from leading global spas, consumers and industry surveys conducted by SpaFinder, as well as personal visits by staff to spas around the world.

The top trends to watch this year include the concept of wellness becoming more important to the spa experience, incorporating fitness and nutrition and fertility boosting treatments increasing in popularity.

Luxury detox programmes and weight loss bootcamps are also predicted to be a major trend for 2008 as well as spas focusing more on sleep. Hotel spas could begin to bring in 'sleep directors', destination spas offer sleep programmes - such as medically-guided sleep analysis - and more day spas offer 'snooze' time.

SpaFinder predicts that 'super experiences' focusing on hydrothermal treatments will be interpreted by spas in new and more spectacular ways. One idea is the hydrothermal garden, where the spa experience can include an ice igloo, a pelotherapy chamber, water geysers and arctic monsoon showers.

Separate trends reports for SpaFinder UK and Japan have also been released.
