Two new treatment rooms have been unveiled at The White Hart Hotel in Lincoln, UK, in the first phase of the property’s multi-million pound refurbishment and spa development.
Owned by local businessman Andrew Long, the 51-key hotel will launch The Aquitaine Spa in early 2027.
Aquitaine holds meaning for those familiar with the city’s history. A descendant of Eleanor of Aquitane, a former queen of medieval France and England, is buried in Lincoln Cathedral, located near the hotel.
Aquitaine is also the Roman word for “land of water,” which is fitting because the business has received planning permission to build a range of thermal facilities and an 11-metre vitality pool.
The spa and a new gym will be open to hotel guests, local residents and day visitors.
Treatments will be delivered using products and protocols exclusively by Templespa, including detoxifying and relaxing massages, hot stone therapies, hot oil scalp rituals and a range of body scrubs and wraps.
Several treatments on the menu are part of the Amethyst Trust collection, adapted for clients who are medically frail, recovering from illness or are immunocompromised.
A 90-minute Mediterranean aromatherapy massage, called “Drift Away,” costs £100 (US$135, €118). A 30-minute bespoke, tailored facial costs £55 (US$74, €65).
Spa guests will be able to combine treatments with lunch or an afternoon tea in the property’s Antlers Restaurant.
Long told Spa Business, “Being from Lincolnshire, I’m passionate about the city of Lincoln and all it has to offer and am committed to enhancing these wonderful historic buildings, creating a strong reputation for overnight stays of national and international quality whilst also delivering experiences for local residents to enjoy. Our latest additions will mean that even more guests, both returning and new, can experience all the great attractions that the City of Lincoln has to offer.”
“We are very proud to open the first phase of The Aquitaine Spa for the hotel’s overnight guests, local residents and all day visitors to enjoy,” Long added. “The new treatment rooms offer the perfect opportunity to relax and personally indulge, taking time out of a busy daily schedule or as a special treat whilst enjoying an overnight stay in our lovely historic city, along with the overall White Hart Hotel luxury experience.”
Loxley Collection
The White Hart Hotel and The Aquitaine Spa is one of seven properties in Long’s portfolio, called The Loxley Collection.
Three other properties in Lincoln make up the collection, in addition to one in North Yorkshire and two on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall.
One of the Cornish properties, The Polourrian, is undergoing a similar expansion of its accommodations and spa amenities. For example, a new spa is planned with four treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge with manicure/pedicure areas and a hydrotherapy bathing circuit.
