Ashia Hansen and Jack Rowell join Sport England board

World class triple jumper Ashia Hansen and Dr Jack Rowell, the former manager and coach of the England rugby union team, have been appointed to the board of Sport England.

Hansen is one of Britain's most experienced track and field stars, having been world indoor champion, Commonwealth champion and a world record holder in triple jump.

Rowell is currently director of rugby at Bath Rugby Football Club and was awarded an OBE for services to the game of rugby.

Patrick Carter, chair of Sport England, welcomed the appointments: "Both Ashia and Jack bring a wealth of experience of sport at its different levels and we are delighted to have them on board.

"They join us at an exciting time. The big changes at Sport England will ensure we are far more effective in helping to shape the future of community sport in this country." Details: www.sportengland.org
